Clyfford Still

American painter Clyfford Still was one of the leading figures of Abstract Expressionism after seeing some of his work in the Royal Academy recently I decided to look into his work and that of other abstract expressionist along side Alfred Sisleys painting of Storrs Rock the reason behind this being that when seeing his work a lot of it reminded me of landscapes due to either the colour or brush work. I’ve mainly looked at his use of colour which I did by creating small squares to experiment on as I thought it would be interesting to instead of using quite toned down colours like Sisley does in his version of Storrs Rock use more vibrant or deeper tones instead
